Building It Myself

Choosing Build It Myself on the how do you want to build page connects CX to an Amazon Connect instance the organisation already runs. Nothing is generated on your behalf: the Amazon Connect instance, its contact flows, queues, routing profiles, hours of operation and users stay exactly as you have designed them, and CX is integrated with them as they are.

Because nothing is being built for you, none of the IQ build behaviour applies. There is no build to watch, no build progress and no build states - the contact centre exists as soon as the setup is complete.

Contact centres created this way show a Built with value of Manually in the contact centres list. See Managing Contact Centres.

Single sign on

Amazon Connect instances that use single sign on must be set up this way, because IQ does not support them. Single sign on has to be enabled when the Amazon Connect instance is created, and is then turned on for the contact centre under Configuration > Users. See Configuring Single Sign On.

Where the Setup Steps Are

The setup itself is covered end to end in Getting Started, which walks through connecting an existing Amazon Connect instance and testing the result. The sections to work through are:

  • Prerequisites - what the AWS account and the Amazon Connect instance must have in place before starting, including contact flows, a claimed phone number, a user with a routing profile, and the customer profiles domain name.
  • AWS Customer Account Resources - the IAM role the onboarding wizard creates in the AWS account, the policy it uses, and the resources deployed for each feature.
  • Add Users - creating users in Amazon Connect and giving them an Agent or Admin role in CX.
  • Test Core Features - signing in to the agent workspace and placing a test inbound and outbound call.
